Rainbows (4-7)

Rainbows welcomes all girls from 4 to 7 years old for play, learning and tons of fun in a colourful, safe space.
She’ll laugh, sing and make a happy mess (and help clear it up!) as she chooses her way through our programme of activities. She’ll have plenty of magic moments: she might become a time traveller, an animal tracker, a pop singer, a stargazer. It’s a wonderful world of adventure, week after week, just for her.
What do girls do in Rainbows?
Rainbows follow our programme. In unit meetings, they do fun activities, play games and earn skills builder badges, all while being supported by our trained volunteers.
Your child could get skills builder badges in themes such as camping, communication and first aid. And if she wants to take guiding home, there’s lots of interest badges to do in between unit meetings, like the book lover badge, construction badge and helper badge.
We encourage members to wear a uniform to show they’re part of the Girlguiding family. Rainbows wear a top and a pair of bottoms.
Badges can be attached to her uniform – the promise badge, which she’ll get after making her Rainbow promise, should be on the left-hand side and all other badges can be attached where she chooses.
Guides (10-14)

Guides is a relaxed, welcoming space where you can have fun, learn and be yourself with good friends from 10 to 14 years old.
A place where you can explore the things you love and do stuff you’ve never done before. Where else can you think up a new sport, make a new perfume, cook over a campfire, design an advertising campaign, have a mocktail party, raise money for a charity you believe in? At Guides, you can do all of this and loads more.

Many units split girls into small groups called patrols for some activities and, as you get older, you’ll have a chance to become a patrol leader. You could also try out the Guide camp permit, become a Rainbow or Brownie helper with a local unit and inspire our youngest sections, or become a member of Amplify, who help staff and senior volunteers make decisions about the future of Girlguiding.
We encourage members to wear a uniform to show they’re part of the Girlguiding family - and you can wear a Guide top or dress.
Badges can be attached to your uniform – the promise badge, which you’ll get after making your Guide promise, should be on the left-hand side and every other badge can be attached where you choose.
Brownies (7-10)

Brownies welcomes all girls from 7 to 10 years old for nonstop fun, learning and adventure.
It’s full of firsts: she might grow her first plant, cook her first cake, put up (and take down) her first tent, light her first fire, go on her first fun-packed weekend away with guiding friends. With a helpful hand from our encouraging volunteers, she’ll explore her creative side, get out into the great outdoors, and start learning to look after herself, others and the world we live in. There’s something for every girl at Brownies, and plenty of moments she’ll never forget.

Rangers (14-18)

Rangers is your space – where you get together with other girls from 14 to 18 to have fun, learn more, give back, hang out, and just be you.
It’s regular meetings with your local group, trips at home and abroad, making a difference to the things you care about. It’s an open and relaxed space to talk with good friends – it’s qualifications, and badges and awards. It’s the freedom to be more independent, and to do what makes you happy. Rangers is what you make of it.

You could become a young leader with a local unit and inspire our younger sections, train to be a peer educator and give girls a space to talk about what’s important to them, do your Lead Away permit, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and, from 16, your Queen’s Guide award. How about becoming a member of Amplify, who help staff and senior volunteers make decisions about the future of Girlguiding, or perhaps become an advocate and talk to MPs and other politicians - be a spokesperson for Girlguiding and speak at events.
We encourage members to wear a uniform to show they’re part of the Girlguiding family - you can wear a Ranger top.
Badges can be attached to your uniform – the promise badge, which you’ll get after making your Ranger promise, should be worn on the left hand side, or can be worn on a badge tab, and every other badge can be attached where you choose.

Volunteering Opportunities
Join more than 80,000 volunteers nationwide and supporters who make a real difference to girls and young women
When you volunteer for us, you become an inspiring role model for our young members..
There are lots of fun and flexible ways to get involved in guiding.
You don't need to have been involved in guiding before or have loads of time to make a big difference. Whatever your skills and interests, whether it’s volunteering with girls directly or supporting behind the scenes, there’s a role to suit you.
At the heart of guiding are the unit meetings that girls go along to regularly. Volunteering at unit meetings means getting stuck in, meeting new people and running activities that help girls know they can do anything. You’ll volunteer directly with young people and can choose to work with girls of different age groups between 4 and 18 years in Rainbows, Brownies, Guides or Rangers. Unit meetings are usually once a week for around 60-90 minutes.
Roles include:
Unit helper or Unit leader
There are plenty of ways you can still make an impact in a supporting role, whether that’s digitally or on an ad-hoc basis. No commitment is too small – every role is vital to running our charity.
These roles are perfect for you if you can’t give time every week, want to help casually or are keen to share a specific skill or passion. This can be anything from camping or football through to photography or managing a shop!

Trefoil Guild
Trefoil Guild is for everyone aged 18 and over. A place to find friendship, to get involved in new challenges, or get active in your community. A place to give support and find comfort. We have a network of members across the UK.
A Trefoil Guild is a group of at least 6 people who meet up on a regular basis to do fun activities and enjoy each others company.
Trefoil is part of the Girlguiding family, and aims to support them and help others by carrying the spirit of Girlguiding into our communities. Many members support Girlguiding directly by assisting or leading units, and others give support in different ways.
Offering opportunities is a key part of Trefoil. So when you meet with your Trefoil Guild you can find like-minded friends to share your adventures and challenges with. The great part is that you have the choice to get involved with what works best for you.
Trefoil Guild aims and objectives:
To keep alive among members the spirit of the Girlguiding and Scout promises and laws
To carry that spirit into the communities in which members live and work
To give practical, financial and moral support to Girlguiding and Scouting
Trefoil Guild mission:
Trefoil Guild offers members personal and social opportunities whilst supporting Guiding and Scouting.
